The Humane Educational Society
HES Experience
The Humane Educational Society has afforded me the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and develop a greater understanding of the importance of social interaction on animal rehabilitation. Throughout the semester I have worked with a multitude of animals and in return this has allowed me to analyze trends that are a part of animal ques. As a member of the enrichment committee, I collaborate with other volunteers to formulate activities that will help animals socially and behaviorally develop. These activities consist of mentally stimulating puzzles that challenge the animals to uncover hidden treats. The committee also conducts assessments that make evident food aggression, toy aggression, and behaviors not favored by future pet owners. |
The information obtained through the enrichment activities allow the animals to socialize better with future pet owners. The enrichment activities implemented daily reinforce the importance of animal engagement and the creative ways one can utilize to help improve animal behavior. This project has allowed me to critical reflect and formulate activities for all animals despite physical inadequacies, while socially preparing animals for a future home that fosters a sentiment of kindness in every home. |
Arkansas Puppy Mill Rescues
In addition to formulating enrichment activities, I also aiding in the process of rescuing fifty three animals who were victims from an atrocious puppy mill in Arkansas. When the animals arrived at the facility, the HES volunteers and I greeted the animals with love and allowed them to stretch their legs and interact with each other. With continuous affection and reassurance, the animals displayed signs of comfort as we bathed, groomed, and prepared individuals kennels for them. It was during this gratifying experience that I learned the impact that the wonderful HES organization has on animals globally. |
This organization had instantly created a safe and loving environment for animals that were physically, emotionally, and mentally abused. To be a participant in such a wonderful project filled my heart with joy. It was in this breathtaking moment at the HES facility that my love for animals was greatly heightened. This experience was absolutely phenomenal and the HES facility was so honored for my contribution that they placed me on the front of their website. I instantly gained a different perspective on the daily impact this wonderful organization has on the world around me and I am honored to dedicate my time to such a great cause.
